Abstract

This study investigated the skill level of housekeeping staff in Department of Tourism accredited accommodation in Dipaculao, Aurora in terms of Time Management, Communication, Interpersonal, Safety, and housekeeping skill. This study will encourage working people especially the housekeeping staff to be aware of skill level in their workplace. It will help them develop their skills by providing information for the purpose of assisting the accommodation sectors in the hospitality and tourism industry in designing a training program to more appropriately meet the needed skills of staff to be effective at their job. There are 10 selected DOT accredited accommodation in Dipaculao, Aurora that participated in this study. The total housekeeping staff research participants were thirty-seven (37) from printout survey questionnaire. Data gathered through printed survey questionnaire using Non-probability Sampling Method which is the Convenience Sample. Moreover, data were analyzed and interpreted using the Numerical rating scale. The researchers found out that the highest skill level of housekeeping staff in DOT accredited accommodation in Dipaculao, Aurora with 3.26 overall mean is Housekeeping hard skill, followed by Time management skill with 3.11 overall mean and Communication skill with 3.08 overall mean. The said skills approaching the standard of excellent level of housekeeping staff DOT accredited accommodation in Dipaculao, Aurora. Though Safety skill approaching the standard of excellent level, it is the lowest skill level of housekeeping staff in Department of Tourism accredited accommodation in Dipaculao, Aurora with got 3.00 overall mean followed by Interpersonal skill with 3.01 overall mean. In overall mean out of five (5) skills of housekeeping staff in DOT accredited accommodation approaching the standard excellent level of housekeeping skills with 3.10 overall mean. Therefore, the researchers recommend to provide a training program for Safety skill and Interpersonal skill of housekeeping staff in DOT accredited accommodation in DIpaculao, Aurora.
