This study was conducted using a questionnaire to determine the perceived problems in the implementation of K to 12 Curriculum in Central Aurora by Grade 11 students. Specifically, the collected data were used to describe the personal profile of the respondents in terms of age, sex, monthly family income, father’s highest educational attainment, mother’s educational attainment, educational background (chosen track/strand, total number of years in school, type of school and actual school fees), problems encountered, and suggestions of the respondents.
The data were gathered among the public and private high schools in Central Aurora that offer Senior High School program of the K to 12 Curriculum. The public schools which offer Senior High School program include: Aurora National High School (ANHS), Aurora National Science High School (ANSci), Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT), Canili Area National High School (CANHS), Dikapinisan National High School (DikNHS), Ditumabo National High School (DiNHS), Eliseo C. Ronquillo Sr. Memorial National High School (ECRMNHS), Maria Aurora National High School (MANHS), Dipaculao National High School (DipNHS), and Rosauro R.Tangson Memorial National High School (RTMNHS). The private schools are Father John Karash Memorial High School (FJKMHS), Lyceum of the East-Aurora (LEA), Mount Carmel High School (Baler Campus), Mount Carmel High School (San Luis Campus), Mount Carmel School of Maria Aurora (MCSMA), and Wesleyan University Philippines-Maria Aurora campus (WUP-MA).
A descriptive type of research was used by the researcher. The consolidated information were valuable and significant for the concerned government agencies (DepEd, CHED, TESDA), school administrators, teachers, and for both parents and students. Descriptive statistics such as frequencies tranformed to percentage, average weighted meanand rank were used for the interpretation of the data gathered. Categorization of some quantitative results and reclassification of some qualitative results were done to facilitate a more meaningful interpretation of the results. In addition, formualtion od scale and calculation of chi-square were also employed.
The results revealed that Grade 11 students in Senior High Schools were dominated by 17 year-old females who ahve monthly family income of P6,000 to P14,999. The parents’ educational attainments of the respondents also chosen the General Academic Strand (GAS) of K to 12 curriculum and generally enrolled in public school wherein they pay for about P999 and below while those enrolled in private school was pay for about P1,000 and above. Typically, the students have a total of 11 years in school since Grade 1.
