The purpose of this study was to assess the implementation of the National Greening Program in Northern Aurora.
The study employed descriptive research suing survey method. Two different set of questionnaires were utilized in gathering the data from 32 implementers from DENR, DAR, DA, and LGUs, and 254 beneficiaries.
Rattan was the most planted species in three municipalities within Casiguran as the largest plantation in terms of area. Survival rate was greatly affected by succeeding occurrences of typhoon during the onset of its implementation which resulted to failure in meeting the national target of 85% survival rate.
All of the respondents perceived that NGP create opportunities, reduced poverty, and provides livelihood and employment, ensures the availability of food in the near future, replenish the degraded forest cover, reduces landslides, increases floral and faunal diversity, improves irrigation, gradually balances the effect of climate, and improves awareness among local communities and stakeholders.
In terms of management strategies, majority of the respondents revealed that the DENR was effective in the implementation of NGP. The key players in the implementation of NGP were identified.
The common problems encountered during the implementation of NGP were typhoons, species mismatch, and time constraints in the part of beneficiaries/stakeholders.
Specific recommendations for the implementing agencies and stakeholders were formulated.
