Preface to the Fourth Edition
“The College Algebra Text/Workbook tends to explain the concepts and procedures as simply and clearly as possible. With the current educational trend, the fundamental principles of Algebra have been discussed in a more rigorous and varied manner. The problems presented as illustrative examples, seatworks and assignments have been carefully selected to provide the students with a thorough workout in the application of the basic principles of Algebra. With this, the students experience the evolution necessary to the learning process.
This text/workbook is self-explaining and self contained. The manner presented is such that the instructor need not result to another reference to answer questions that the students might ask.
The topics presented are needed to give solid foundation for the mathematics needed in their area of disciplines. Every topic have been reviewed for more clarity and understanding of the subject.
The exercises are part of normal lessons and are included to enable students understand faster.
The authors wish to acknowledge the comments and suggestions that have been received from faculties and students from all colleges and universities. These comments and suggestions are always welcome.
We hope that this text/workbook will serve the need of our students regardless of the course they hope to pursue in the future.”- Lorina Gison Salamat, Antonina Cruz Sta. Maria, and Merlyn Regacho Sevilla
