Summary, etc Teachers now play a vital role on how to make their classes more interesting and more appealing to learn to. They developed Instructional Materials (IMs) or anything that can be used in teaching to bridge learning gaps such as SIMs, SLK, SLMs and other teacher-made materials.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the relevance and responsiveness of the Instructional Materials (IMs) developed by teachers. It is a case study analysis based on the qualitative research methods in which the researcher read various related literature about the teachers who developed IMs based on their subject area. The research instrument is a literature review about the Instructional Materials (IMs) developed by teachers. The data were gathered through online research and library research.
In this study, it was found that (1) the IMs focused on concrete applications in a specific context that is of interest of the student. Therefore, in making IMs, the teachers should use issues, events, activities, and authentic materials related to the learners to meet their needs on the subject; (2) The IMs provide an opportunity to train oneself and develop the skill of the student to become globally competitive. Therefore, if the teacher made a localized and contextualized IMs, one of the goals of the K to 12 will be attained. It is really necessary for teachers to create and develop more IMs to help and mold the students to become 21st century learners.
Meanwhile, the study’s findings show that: (1) the IMs were effective in mastering the competency based skills in various subject areas. it is also effective in improving student performance; and (2) It was found out that IMs have implications in the attainment of the goals of K to 12 Curriculum.
Based on the conclusions drawn, it is recommended to all teachers to develop a contextualized, indigenized, localized, and culture and values integrated interventions that will shape students’ knowledge and skills.
