Summary, etc Cucumber (Cucumis sativus) is the fruit of a vine in the family Cucurbitaceæ. The cucumber is usually long and cylindrical in shape, has rounded edges, and can appear in various sizes. In addition, vermicompost tea serves as organic liquid fertilizer that increases the fertility of the soil naturally and usually applied to the plants while they are growing.Generally, the study was conducted to determine the influence of vermicompost tea on the growth and yield performance of cucumber. A total of 168 healthy cucumber seedlings were utilized in this study. The experimental plots were distributed randomly into four treatments with three replications using a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD).
There were four treatments used replicated three times. The treatments were T1 - (no application), T2 - (24 hours brewing of vermicompost tea), T3 - (48 hours of brewing vermicompost tea), and T4 - (72 hours of brewing vermicompost tea). Treatments were applied 2 weeks after the seedlings were transplanted to the field until the last harvesting period.
The result of the study shows that the brewing duration of vermicompost tea resulted significantly in terms of number of fruits, fruit length, fruit weight, marketable fruit, and total yield per treatment. However, no significant result was obtained in terms of days to first flower days to first harvest, and non marketable fruits. From the result, it was concluded that Treatments 2, 3, and 4 had the same effect in terms of weight of fruit, marketable yield and total yield. However, in the number of fruits, Treatment 4 showed the highest number of fruits produced.
