Summary, etc This study was conducted to determine the effect of applying different rates of boton seed extract on the growth and yield performance of eggplant. Specifically, it is conducted to evaluate the effects on the growth performance of eggplant in terms of days to first flower, days to first harvest, number of damaged leaves, number of damaged fruits, number of observed harmful insects, non marketable yield (g), marketable yield (g), and total yield (g).
A total of 168 plants were utilized in the study. The experimental plants were randomly distributed into four treatments which were replicated three times in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). The different treatments were T0 Control, T1 20 ml of boton seed extract :1980 ml of water, T2 40 ml of boton seed extract :1960 ml of water, and T3 60 ml of boton seed extract : 1940 ml of water. All the data were further tested and analyzed using Statistical Tool for Agricultural Research (STAR) version 2.0.
The T0 (Control) showed the largest number of observed insects, which exhibits a comparative difference to treatments applied with 1 litter of boton seed extract. It has no significant effect in terms of days to first flower, days to first harvest, number of damaged leaves, non-marketable yield (g), marketable yield (g), and total yield (g). From the result, it can be concluded that boton seed extract can be lessen the appearance of harmful insects which negatively impact eggplant production.
