"The application of solid-state electronics for controlling and converting electric power is referred to as power electronics. Modern power electronics systems use semiconductor switching devices such as diodes, thyristors and power transistors to perform the conversion. The power conversion systems can be classified into various categories such as AC to DC, DC to AC, DC to DC and AC to AC.
