In pursuing this study, we were assisted by a number of persons and institutions. We wish to acknowledge the assistance of former dean of the Asian Center, Dr. Josefa Saniel, for giving us all the time for fieldwork; Ms. Lilia Marquez and Mamerta Caguimbal for typing the earlier drafts; and Ms. Edna Madriaga and Belva Mirto for staff assistance during the final phase of this work.
Special thanks goes to C. O. Ricafort, Jr. for preparing the manuscript for publication and Mr. Jay Dominguez for printing the book.
