TO THE STUDENT
“Curiosity about the physical phenomena is the subject more enjoyable to most students. In this manual, you will understand more the principles on the different topics involved. You will find out how such phenomena works and the application of such principle involved. You will learn more and get rid of some of the misconception about the topics. Thus this manual attends to the needs of the students.
This manual contains the different topics which will give more perspective and applications to the different topics discussed in the Physics lecture subject.
Each experiment is made for you to apply and understand the principle involved. At the end of this manual are appendices containing tables, charts and safety precautions inside a laboratory.
This has been written and organized to help you succeed in your career. As you do your class work and complete the subject, you will gain the satisfaction of understanding the different principle and its application to everyday life.
Systematic approach must be well undertaken to grade student in this laboratory work. It is a must for everybody to know the following general procedures in performing the different experiments involved in this manual. These are:
1. Thoroughly read the direction and understand the objective/s of the experiment to be performed.
2. Properly set up the apparatus after checking first their conditions of accuracy.
3. Deeply observe the progress of performance and collect relevant data for several trials.
4. Analyze the data and show all-important computations.
Documentation of the experiment is made through the preparation of two aboratory reports. These are the group report and the individual report.
a. The group report
It contains the accomplished experiment manual for a particular experiment. Each group collectively gathers the relevant data of the experiment. The group should have the same answer in all the applications given in the manual and the will have the same grade for the experiment. Members of the group should work as a team to successfully verify correctly the theories, principles, and laws that the experiment wants to clarify.
b. The Individual Report
This is a formal report and must comply with standard format to be given by the instructor during the first meeting in the laboratory. It contains a summary of the experiment and prepared individually by each member of the group. It also includes an explanation if the objective/s of the experiment was/were met or not, the difficulties in performing the experiment, the sources of errors, and the possible ways to get rid of those errors. This will be written in bond papers in students' own handwriting."
