"In April, 1980, the Food and Fertilizer Technology Center celebrated its Tenth Anniversary. To mark the occasion, an inter- national symposium on the theme 'Food Situation and Potential in the Asian and Pacific Region' was held, with a participation of more than 80 scientists and researchers from 13 countries and a total of 41 papers presented.
On the first day of the meeting, five feature papers were presented on topics of major regional concern, after which partici- pants divided into four groups to study various important com- ponents of the agricultural infrastructure. Each group concluded its deliberations with a general discussion, during which important matters relating to regional agriculture were highlighted and recom- mendations were made.
This book includes the five feature papers and the key-note address delivered on the opening day, together with the reports of the four summary sessions of each of the four groups."
