The study aimed to identify consumer and employee beliefs about environmental sustainability practices of hotels and resorts within the jurisdiction of CENRO-Casiguran. The environmental sustainability practices of hotels and resorts owners as well as the attitude towards sustainability of hotel and resorts development, environmental sustainability practices, and benefits of environmental sustainability practices were determined.
The study used a descriptive method of research involving hotel and resort owners, employees, and tourists. The data were categorized and subjected to statistical treatments such as frequency count, weighted mean, and independent t-test. The hotel and resorts owner and employees were 41-50 years old and 51-60 years old, most are female, married, and high school graduates. Tourists were mostly 20-30 years old, female, married, and college graduates.
The tourists were found to be loyal to the hotel and resorts they used to visit because they were satisfied with the services and amenities provided by the hotel they checked in. further, the hotel and resorts owner provided services that can cater to the needs of the tourists making them satisfied and thus they keep on coming back on the same hotel and resorts.
Using t-test to validate correlation coefficients, the calculated p-value of 0.18 which is lower than the 0.5 level of significance shows that there is a significant and substantial relationship between environmental attitude and ecological behaviour and tourist loyalty. But there is no significant relationship between respondent’s attitudes towards sustainability and sustainable tourism, responsibility for environmental sustainability of hotel and resorts development, environmental sustainability practices, and benefits of environmental sustainability practices. Among the best environmental sustainability practices were cost reduction and reduction of negative impacts on the social, cultural, and ecological environment.
It was concluded that the respondents have a positive level of attitude towards sustainability and sustainable tourism, responsibility for environmental sustainability of hotel and resorts development, environmental sustainability practices, and benefits of environmental sustainability practices hence their environmental practices have a bearing on their environmental sustainability attitude. The tourist intention to remain as a guest is manifested. Hence, a significant and substantial relationship between environmental attitude and ecological behaviour and tourist loyalty was also found.
