Master of Arts in Education Major in Educational Management
This research was focused on the leadership skills and leadership behaviors of the school leaders on the Dinalungan District. Study used the descriptive and correlational methods of research and included variables such as the school leaders’ profile (sex, civil status, years in service, highest educational attainment, position/designation, years of experience as a school leader, number of trainings/seminars, and outstanding accomplishments) and the aspects of leadership skills and leadership behaviour. Also, the study would like to determine the significant relationship of the profile of the school leaders and their leadership skills, relationship between the profile of the school leaders and their leadership behaviour, and significant relationship of the leadership behaviour and the leadership skills.
The respondents of the study were from the Dinalungan District and delimited to school leaders and school personnel with leadership designations of public elementary and secondary schools.
Study revealed that majority of the school leaders in the District of Dinalungan in SDO-Aurora were dominated by females, married, in-service for many years, pursued master’s and doctorate degree, designated as Principal I, attended numerous seminars and trainings related to leadership, and has may outstanding accomplishments not only in their respective schools but also in the division and regional level. Also, school leaders in the different school of Dinalungan District possessed great leadership skills and shows high performance relatively to setting instructional direction, teamwork skills, sensitivity skills, judgement skills, result orientation skills, and organizational and communication skills.
In terms of leadership behavior, the school leaders of Dinalungan District were outstanding and directed their school properly in terms of framing and communicating school goals, supervising and evaluating instruction, coordinating the curriculum, monitoring student progress, and in promoting professional development. The leadership skills performed by the school leaders were also outstanding and found out that there is no significant relationship with their sex, civil status, years in service, highest educational attainment, position/designation, years of experience as a school leader, number of trainings/seminars, and outstanding accomplishments.
Furthermore, sex, civil status, years in service, highest educational attainment, position/designation, years of experience as a school leader, number of trainings/seminars, and outstanding accomplishments does not have any significant relationship to the leadership behaviour and does not significantly affects the conduct of good behavior among school leaders to their co-workers,
Finally, research revealed that leadership skills of the school leaders has a high significant relationship with their leadership behaviour and study further prove that they are correlated.
