Interview and survey-questionnaires were utilized in obtaining the data. The respondents were 30 households residing at Sampaguita Street, Barangay Ditumabo, San Luis, Aurora. The results show that the respondents are vulnerable to flood hazard. As shown in the graph of the demographic profile of the respondents, strengthening and raising public awareness of disaster-prone area is necessary in order to reduce vulnerability and risk. The researchers focused on the local scale and is based on community knowledge of flood hazard. It was found out that the residents live near the riverbanks wherein light materials are being used for housing structure. Community knowledge is very important to improve preparedness and mitigation to reduce the impact of flooding.

Abstract
