"This Data Series on Rootcrop Statistics, Philippines is PCARRD's fifth at- tempt to consolidate statistical figures on a commodity basis. The first publication which dealt on rice, was published in collaboration with the International Rice Research Institute. The other three publications were on coconut, sugarcane, and corn and sorghum.
Various agencies were tapped for this publication, among them the National Census and Statistics Office, the Bureau of Agricultural Economics, National Economic and Development Authority, Special Studies Division of the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Central Bank of the Philippines. Agency differences in statistics were reflected in the presentation. These figures could not be merged as they have been computed using different methodologies.
PCARRD hopes that with this series of publication, researchers, policy makers, program implementors and others will find the compiled data useful."
