"This Data Series on Ruminants (Cattle, Carabao, and Goat) Statistics in the Philippines is PCARRD's sixth attempt to consolidate statistical figures on a commodity (or group of commodities) basis. PCARRD published the first data series on rice in collaboration with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). The other four data series were on coconut, corn and sorghum, sugarcane, and root crops. Simultaneous with this publication are the data series for hog and for poultry.
Various agencies were tapped for this publication. These include, among others, the Bureau of Agricultural Economics (BAEcon), National Census and Statistics Office (NCSO), Special Studies Division of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food (SSD, MAF), and national Economic Development Authority (NEDA). No attempt, however, is made to reconcile the differences as they have computed using different methodologies.
PCARRD hopes that this volume of data series will be a useful reference for policy makers, program implementors, researchers, students, and others." - Ramon V. Valmayor
