To date, we have 65 national parks, each having its own unique features. Our country has also interesting mammals like the flying squirrel and the Palawan Peacock Pheasant. To top it all, we have wildlife species which are truly ours like the Philippine Eagle and the tamaraw. Unfortunately, these wildlife resources are beset with conservation and management problems. Researches along this line have been fragmentary and neglected. The Parks, Wildlife and Forest Range Commodity of the Forestry Re- search Division foresaw the need to gather all available information on parks and wildlife researches and come up with a comprehensive status report. Hence, this Symposium-Workshop on Parks and Wildlife Research and Development in the Philippines: Current Status and a Mandate for Tomorrow was held last September 9-10, 1981. This publication is believed to identify gaps in all areas of concern and serve as basis for formulating future researches." - Filiberto Pollisco ER -
