Abstract
This study aimed to determine the level of awareness on the sea level rise and the adaptation strategies of the residents of Sitio Castillo Baler, Aurora. The data needed were acquired from the municipal office of Baler, Aurora. The number of households in Sitio Castillo are 380. Data were obtained through a questionnaire, supplemented with personnel interview. The statistical tools used in the analysis of data were simple frequency count and percentage. Specifically, to determine their present socio-demographic status including their name (optional), age, year of residency, occupation and their educational attainment, to determine the Level of Awareness and Adaptation on the Sea Level Rise of residents in Sitio Castillo Brgy. Sabang, Baler, Aurora. In terms of level of awareness, the residents are moderately aware of those stated possible impact of the sea level rise with a general weighted mean of 2.73. In terms of adapted practices, the residents are moderately adapted with a general weighted mean of 3.3. Based on the result of the study, the following conclusions were drawn that the level of awareness on the sea level rise as perceived by the residents of Castillo falls under Moderately Observed. This implies that the information dissemination about the sea level rise needs more attention from the Local Government Units and other participating offices. It can still be improved further. Second, the level of adaptation capacity of residents in Castillo falls under Moderately Aware. This may imply that some information about sea level rise is needed to facilitate in Barangay seminars, and other related activities that may help the residents to minimize the possible impact of the sea level rise
