Upland farming practices in selected Barangays of Casiguran, Aurora/

Specifically, the researchers obtained information to: (a) determine the upland farming practices in Barangays Calabgan, Bianoan, Dibacong, Culat, and Cozo; (b) identify the characteristics of upland farming in the municipality of Casiguran; (c) present alternative and diverse farming practices preferable in the upland; and (d) test significant differences across the farming practices in the uplands of Casiguran. Systematic sampling was used in selecting the 345 upland farmers. This study utilized statistical tools such as average weighted mean, percentage and rank distribution. The results show that farming practices of upland farmers has always been perceived by the farmers of Casiguran, Aurora along with the characteristics, alternatives, and diverse practices of upland farming. It also found out that characteristics of upland farming has significant relationship with the practices, upland farming practices has significant relationship with the alternatives of upland farming and alternatives has significant relationship with the characteristics of upland farming. In the characteristics of the upland farm, traditional practices and the alternatives are interconnected. It is recommended that the farmers must attend trainings on the different modern practices which will give them good harvest. The government must provide ways on how to reach out to the farmers especially regarding the vital installations including irrigation and other support. The municipal agriculturist must provide seminars, symposia, and educational nourishments as support to farmers relative to the diversification of farming practices.
