Abstract
The research aimed to have an assessment and inventory of tree species in Ermita Hill, Baler Aurora, and establish a trail ecosystem for purposes. The data obtained using the 300-meter line intercept method in a selected area of Ermita Hill revealed transects 1-10 with 25 tree families and 36 unknown tree species. The most abundant species was Swietenia macrophylla (mahogany), a member of the Meliaceae family. The IUCN Red List data was used to assess the ecological status of all tree species. The most abundant tree species overall were S. macrophylla, with 14 species, T. darlingii with 12 tree species, EN (endangered), and H. Acuminata, with 11 tree species, is CR (critically endangered).
This study showed the variety of tree species in Ermitahill. To make a more accurate judgment, it would be preferable to perform investigations in various mountain range regions. Due to the lack of reproductive components, some species could not be properly organized at the species level. As a result, along with their identification, the unnamed specimens' species endemism and conservation status remained unclear. To undertake a more precise and practical identification, the collection of the species' reproductive components must be done in the field.
