This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of Nami (Dioscorea hispida) as a molluscicide for pigmented rice production. The field experiment was laid out in Randomize Complete Block Design (RCBD) with four treatments and three replications. Statistical analysis used in the study was analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and significant differences were further tested using the Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT). Specifically, the study aimed to determine the effects of nami tuber extract on the mortality rate of golden apple snails. Data on plants height number of productive and unproductive tillers, number of filled and unfilled spike-lets per panicle, length of panicle and dry grain yield per hill were also gathered.
Results revealed that applying of nami (Dioscorea hispida) as a molluscicide for pigmented rice production has affected mortality of GAS but not others pests. Treatment 3 (3% nami tuber extract solution) shows the best results for the mortality rate of golden apple snails with an average mean of 17.33%. Growth and yield parameters show no significant difference among treatments, which means nami extract did not affect the different parameters.
