This study focused on identifying the potent influence of azolla extract in the production of chili pepper in Brgy. Buenavista, DIpaculao Aurora. Specifically, it was conducted to evaluate its effects on the growth and yield response of chili pepper in terms of plant height, number of branches, leaf area, number of days to first flower, number of days to first harvest, number of fruit per plant, fruit length, marketable, non marketable and total yield.
A total of 144 plants were utilized which were randomly distributed into four treatments and replicated three times using Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). The different treatments were T1 - Control, T2 -150 ml of azolla extract :1000ml of water, t3-200ml of azolla extract : 1000ml of water, T4 - 250ml of azolla extract : 1000ml of water. All gathered data in the study were tested and analyzed using the Statistical Tool for Agricultural Research (STAR) version 2.0.
Treatment 4 (250ml of azolla extract : 1000ml of water) was found to be the most effective in increasing leaf area, days to first flower, days to first harvest, number of fruits, fruit length, marketable fruits and total yield per treatment of chili pepper. However, it did not show any significant effect on plant height and the number of branches. Treatment 4 exhibited the lowest mean weight of non marketable fruits among the four (4) treatments in terms of the use of azolla extract as organic fertilizer on the growth and yield response of chili pepper. Thus, it was concluded that Treatment 4 is the best treatment formulation in achieve a higher and better yield of chili peppers.
