The study was conducted to determine the socio- demographic profile, production practices, and impact of African Swine Fever outbreak on small holder farming in Northern Aurora. This study aimed to evaluate the production of swine raisers using the normative descriptive survey method by means of a questionnaire supplemented by observation and schedule interviews.
The Municipal Agriculture Office of Casiguran and Dilasag Aurora provided information on the number affected swine raisers but the researchers selected the one hundred seventy-two (172) from backyard raisers. The data gathered were statistically analyzed using percentage, as shown in the chart and table. Documentation was also presented as proof of conducting the study.
The data gathered revealed that the socio- demographic profile of the respondents was mostly female, high school graduate, household size is around 1 to 5 members, farmer and monthly income of 5,000 and below. The production practice of swine raiser in terms of the numbers of swine was 1-5 heads (49.42), which means indicates a smaller - scale or backyard swine farming operation with a relatively limited production volume and have not enough capital in production. The data gathered in mortality rate was range in 20 and above falls with 83.72%.
The financial impact of African Swine Fever in terms of stock, feeds expenses is about 10,000 (40.12%), this data highlights the importance of efficient budgeting and cost management when it comes to feed expenses in animal husbandry. Medication expenses is the range to P1,000.00 and above (34.88%), vaccination expenses in ping farming in Casiguran and Dilasag was between P100.00 to P300.00 (40.12%). Labor expenses of technicians play a crucial role in the success and profitability of the business. Labor expenses for technicians is zero (58.14%). In terms of indirect expenses, disinfectant is between P100 .00 to P300.00 (68.60%). De worming expenses in pig farms ranges also from P100.00 to P300.00 (79.65%) of the total expenses.
