Abstract
Coffee Farming: Reforestation Towards Sustainable Livelihood at Fabrigas Farm, Barangay Diarabasin, Dipaculao, Aurora, was conducted from October to December 2022, interview and survey questionnaire were used in obataining the data. The respondents were 40 farmer-landowners of Barangay Diarabasin. The results show that majority of the respondents were females (22 individuals, 55%) with experience and knowledge in coffee farming for more than 30 years; The most common coffee species they planted were C. Robusta and C. Liberica.
Results also revealed that the farmers prefer out-planting before rainy season because there is a chance that soil is too dense, which keep plants from getting enough oxygen. In order to prevent seeds and seedlings from being washed away, one should avoid planting right before a storm. The Department of Agriculture (DA) provides training on proper care and maintenance of the farm for more product and eventually income to sustain reforestation towards sustainable livelihood. The farmers stated that the weeds and coffee are competing on soil nutrients because weeds typically reduce crop yield. The farmers also stated that in terms of phenology, they had to wait for nine (9) months before harvesting coffee berries.
