By: Material type: TextTextPublication details: Aurora ASCOT 2017Description: xiii, 47 pages : illSubject(s): Summary: This study was conducted to determine the perception and problems encountered by the Grade 10 students in the implementation of the K-12 Program among Public High Schools in Northern Aurora. Specifically, this study sought to answer the following questions: 1. What are the perceptions of the respondents in the implementation of the K to 12 Program? 2. What problems do the respondents encounter about the program in terms of: learning facilities and instructional materials? 3. Is there significant relationship between perceptions and problems encountered? The data were gathered among the public schools in Northern Aurora which included, Juan C. Angara Memorial High School (JCAMHS), Mariano D. Marquez Memorial National High School (MDMMNHS), Lual National High School, (LNHS), Dibacong National High School (DNHS), Casiguran National High School (CaNHS), Tinib-Calangcuasan Integrated School (TCIS), Diagyan National High School (DiNHS), Diniog National High School, Manggitahan National High School (MNHS), and Dilasag National High School (DNHS). The descriptive type of research was used by the researcher. The information consolidated are valuable and significant for concerned government agencies like the Department of Education (DepEd), school administrators, teachers, and students. Descriptive statistics such as weighted mean was used in the interpretation of the data. Meanwhile, Spearman correlation was used to test the significant relationship between perception and problems encountered by the students in terms of learning facilities and learning materials in the implementation of the K to 12 Program. The result of the study revealed positive perception of the students in the implantation of the K to 12 Program wherein it enhanced their knowledge and skills. It also showed that these are the problems encountered by Grade 10 students in the implementation of the K to 12 Program wherein it enhanced their knowledge and skills. It also showed that these are the problems encountered by Grade 10 students in the implementation of the K to 12 Program in terms of learning facilities and learning materials such as: ‘some of the buildings are dilapidated and need repairs’, and, ‘available books in very subject area are not equally distributed to students’. Fortunately, educational infrastructures like learning facilities and learning materials have substantive impact on the learning process of the students. Moreover, the students believed that those problems must be addressed by the Department of Education officials and that they should be given enough supply of books or learning materials and sufficient computer units. Furthermore, the result of the study revealed that there is a significant relationship between students’ perceptions and the problems they encountered in the implementation of the K to 12 program because the problems on learning facilities like congested and dilapidated classrooms and insufficient supply of computer units hinders greatly the effective transfer of learning. The department of Education and the Division Office of Aurora should conduct monitoring on the needs and problems of the schools, construction and repair of dilapidated classrooms and provide all the necessary laboratory facilities as well as learning resources required. It is recommended that the Department of Education or the Division Office should conduct monitoring on the needs and problems of the schools relative to the implementation of the K to 12 Program and offer corresponding appropriate solutions.
