The study was conducted for sixty (60) days to determine the effect of Malunggay Leaf extract on growth performance and carcass yield of Sasso Chicken under confinement system. A total of 120 heads Sasso chicken were used in study.
In the four treatments, supplement was formulated as follows: T1 (fresh water), T2 (60 ml Malunggay Extract added to 940 ml fresh water), T3 (90 ml Malunggay Extract added to 910 ml of fresh water) and T4 (120 ml Malunggay Extract added to 880 ml of fresh water) that was applied on their 15th day until 60th day of the study.
Based on the result of the study, the researchers found that the inclusion of moringa extract in Sasso chicken feed offers the potential for improved growth, enhanced immune function and increased feed efficiency. Malunggay leaf extract has a significant effect to the growth performance and carcass yield of Sasso chicken. Furthermore, the researchers suggest that more research be done to ascertain the ideal inclusion levels, possible long term effects of supplementing with moringa extract and to further refine and enhance its study.
