520 | _aThis study is concerned with the extent of risk experience by secondary school teachers teaching subject/s not aligned to their filed of specialization. The objective of this research was to determine the possible effects of teaching subject/s not aligned to the teacher’s field of specialization, to their teaching methods in terms of teacher’s behaviour in actual teaching, teaching performance and the learning of the students, and to determine the relationship existing between the teachers’ profile and risk-related factors. This study used descriptive method. Three sets of researcher made questionnaires were employed. The first set was the personal information of the respondents, the second set included the teacher’s behaviour in actual teaching, and the last set of questionnaires was the teacher performance in terms of their teaching performance and the learning of the students. To establish validity, the researcher’s co-teachers in senior high school department, members and adviser of this research study were asked about their opinion and suggestions to improve the researcher made questionnaires. To establish reliability of the research, ten teachers were chosen as respondents to answer the questionnaires which are ll teaching outside their filed of specialization in Central Aurora. There were 70 respondents who are all secondary teachers in Northern Aurora teaching subject/s not aligned to their filed of specialization. In the teacher’s behaviour in actual teaching, the GWM = 2.8072, with a verbal interpretation of agree which means that teacher behaviour in actual teaching often exceed expectations. In their teaching performance, the GWM = 3.0357 and in learning of the students, the GWM = 2.9843, with the same verbal interpretation of agree which means that the teaching performance of teachers often exceed expectations. However, the result of the study showed that there is a relationship existing between the teachers’ profile and the extent of risk experience by secondary teachers teaching subject/s not aligned to their filed of specialization in terms of their teaching performance specifically on the trainings and seminars attended. It can be concluded that trainings and seminars are important and needed by teachers teaching subject/s not aligned to their field of specialization. Therefore, school administrators must send teachers to trainings and seminars to be equipped with the knowledge needed in teaching non-major subjects. | ||
