520			_aInvasive alien plant species (IAPS) pose significant ecological, economic, and social challenges, prompting researchers and organizations to prioritize their management. This study examines the distribution, community perception, and management strategies of the invasive alien species Swietenia macrophylla King at the foot of Mt. Banahaw de Nagcarlan, Laguna, Philippines. Field surveys revealed a substantial presence of S. macrophylla (1591 individuals), primarily along roadsides and in mixed land use areas. a survey among 137 members of the local community indicated limited awareness of IAPS, with only a small portion recognizing S. macrophylla as an invasive species. Despite this, the majority of respondents perceived S. macrophylla as beneficial, attributing its value to forest restoration, air quality improvement, and the provision of raw materials. Management efforts were primarily observed in the Municipal Environment and Natural resources Office (MENRO) and the Sangguniang Bayan Committee on Natural Resources and Environmental Protection (SB-CNREP). These entities only focused on educating the community awareness through targeted educational campaigns, enhancing community involvement in IAPS management, strengthening enforcement and regulation, promoting native plants, and fostering interagency collaboration.
