520 _aAbstract The objective of this study is to determine the difficulties encountered by research teachers from senior high school STEM strand in Aurora by the identification of the skills that the teacher posses on the teaching and learning process of the subject research. The study also wanted to determine if there is a relationship between difficulties encountered by teachers in teaching research to the profile of the respondents and to the research and teaching skills. The data were collected from the 7 schools who offered STEM strand both in public and private schools in Aurora using a survey questionnaire. The results on the difficulties encountered by the teachers in teaching research were tabulated and analyzed using weighted mean and interpreted using Likert scale. The test of relationship between the profile of the respondents to the research and teaching skills as well as to the difficulties encountered by the research teachers, and the test of relationship between the difficulties to the research and teaching skills was done using the Spearman correlation. The results shows that most of the teacher respondents were beginning teachers and only obtained bachelor's degree. The study also shows that research and teaching skills will develop when both teaching and research role was associated with the largest gains in skill development. By the result of the study, it confirms that most of the teachers sometimes encountered difficulties in teaching research in terms of the area of specialization, experience, paneling, advising, giving comments and suggestions, and usage of research applications. The result also shows that there is a moderate but significant relationship between the difficulties encountered in teaching research with research skills and a moderate but highly significant relationship of difficulties encountered in teaching research with teaching skills. Based on the findings, it is therefore strongly recommended that research and development activities are essential in the development of teachers research and teaching skills to aid the difficulties encountered in teaching research subject.
